Fitan of the End Times
Imām Abdullāh ad-Dārimī (d. 255 هـ) reported that the rule of the misguiding rulers destroys Islām:
Muḥammad bin ‘Uyayna reported to us: ‘Alī, he is Ibn Mushir, informed us from Abī Isḥāq from ash-Sha’bī from Ziyād bin Ḥudayr, he said:
‘Umar (bin al-Khaṭṭāb) said to me: “Do you know what destroys Islām?” He said: “I said: No”
He (‘Umar) said: “It (Islām) is destroyed by the slip of the scholar, the dispute of the Munāfiq with the book (the Qur’ān) and the rule of the misleading leaders”

Imām Aḥmad bin Ḥanbal (d. 241 هـ) narrated that the bonds of Islām will be broken, the first being the law of Sharī’a:
Al-Walīd bin Muslim narrated to us: ‘Abdulazīz bin Ismā’īl bin ‘Ubaydullāh narrated to me that Sulaymān bin Ḥabīb narrated to them from Abī Umāma al-Bāhilī from the messenger of Allāh, may Allāh’s peace and blessings be upon him, he said:
“The bonds of Islām will be broken, bond by bond. So whenever a bond is broken, the people cling to that which follows it. And the first of them to be broken is the law (Sharī’a) and the last of them is the prayer”
